Saplings Sessions for 2 year olds
We offer funded and payable term-time 3 hour morning OR afternoon sessions for 2 year olds in Saplings. Please see the Saplings Registration Form for timings and costs. We ask that you have a minimum of two sessions per week, maximum of five.
Nursery Sessions for 3 & 4 year olds
We offer funded and payable term-time 3 hour sessions for 3 and 4 year olds in Nursery. Please see the Nursery Registration Form for timings. You can also access payable breakfast care from 8am, and a lunch session that links the morning and afternoon sessions.
Registering your child with The Lawns Nursery School
To register your child for Saplings (2 year olds) and Nursery (3 and 4 year olds) you will need to complete registration forms. These can be printed off from the links below, or you can pick up a full prospectus pack from Reception.
We ask you to bring these completed forms into Reception along with your child's Birth Certificate (we just need sight of this). If your child qualifies for Two Year Old Funding, please make sure you remember to bring your eligibility letter in so that we may take a copy.

3 to 4 year olds, 15 hours free childcare
All 3 to 4 year olds in England get 570 free hours per year. It’s usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year, and it starts from the term after your child’s 3rd birthday. At The Lawns you can use these hours against five of our morning or afternoon sessions. If you wish to combine a morning and afternoon session, you will need to pay for the lunch session that links the two (and children bring a packed lunch with them).
3 to 4 year olds, 30 hours free childcare
You may be able to get up to 30 hours free childcare (1,140 hours per year). If you’re eligible for the extra hours, you sign up online to get a code to give to your childcare provider to reserve your place. You’ll get the extra hours once the next term starts. At The Lawns, you can use these hours against five morning sessions and five afternoon sessions. You will need to pay for the lunch session that links the two (and children bring a packed lunch with them).
You can usually get 30 hours free childcare if you (and your partner, if you have one) are:
in work - or getting parental leave, sick leave or annual leave
each earning at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week.
This earnings limit doesn’t apply if you’re self-employed and started your business less than 12 months ago.
You’re not eligible if:
your child doesn’t usually live with you
the child is your foster child
either you or your partner has a taxable income over £100,000.
You can get 30 hours free childcare at the same time as claiming Universal Credit, tax credits or childcare vouchers.
If you can’t work, you may still be eligible if your partner is working, and you get Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, Carer’s Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance.
Apply for 30 hours free childcare at www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.
You’ll need your details (and your partner’s if you have one), including your:
National Insurance number
Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), if you’re self-employed.
It takes 20 minutes to apply. You may find out if you’re eligible straight away, but it can take up to 7 days. You’ll get a childcare account if your application is successful. You can use it to get your code for 30 hours free childcare.
2 year olds, 15 hours free childcare
Funding is available for up to 15 hours of childcare per week for 2 year olds whose families meet one of the following criteria. They receive:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credits or Working Tax Credits and have an annual gross earnings of no more than £16,190
- the guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
Or their child:
- has a current statement of SEN or an Education Health Care Plan
- receives Disability Living Allowance
- has left care through special guardianship or through an adoption or residence order
- is a looked-after child.
Call the Family Information Service on 0300 300 8585 to check if you are eligible, and they will post/email you an eligibility letter. You can then bring/email this letter to The Lawns Nursery School along with your completed registration forms.
Payable sessions are charged as follows:
- 2 year olds: £5.60 per hour
- 3 and 4 year olds: £4.60 per hour.
Fees are payable one month in advance, as per the Early Years Unfunded Fees Payment Terms (please see below).
Please note, fees are increasing as of 1st September 2021 to:
- 2 year olds: £5.95 per hour
- 3 and 4 year olds: £4.95 per hour.
